From Apprentice to Appointment as Tom’s Career Takes Off
Following the successful completion of his 4-year apprenticeship and HNC Mechanical Engineering qualification, Tom Wickins has now taken up a role within CA Group’s Technical team as Technical Engineer. Tom excelled in his on-the-job training, which included CAD design, drafting engineering drawings and specifications, testing, development and installation of CA Group’s Rainscreen systems. He will soon embark on the next phase of his development programme and is already enrolled on the Advanced Apprenticeship at Teesside University, working towards BEng Mechanical Engineering to ultimately become IEng (Incorporated Engineer) qualified. Helping The Great North Air Ambulance Stay in the Sky
We’re delighted to be continuing support for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) for another year. The charity, which relies on donations to maintain its service, delivers pioneering, and often critical, pre-hospital care direct to the scene, saving lives and easing suffering. Apprentices Fabricate WW1 Tank
One of our very own apprentices, Owen Peddelty, along with his fellow student Ryan Beal, have put their metal working skills to the test with the fabrication of a 1:7 scale model of a tank to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. The finished article, which is 4 foot long, will be displayed in Darlingtons's Cornmill Shopping Centre as part of their Armistice Day commemoration. Owen is one of our Sheet Metal Work apprentices and is currently working in our Specials department creating bespoke fabrications for construction projects throughout the UK. James takes British Championship
Having completed five rounds across the country, winning the main final in the first four, James Lowther has finally been crowned British Champion for the Junior Rotax Class in the final round at the PFI Kart Track in Lincolnshire. Supported throughout his fledgling career by CA Group, James went into the final round leading the championship by 3 points. He qualified fifth, finished second in his first heat and won his second heat which placed him on pole position for the pre-final where he finished fifth. Secured by Design - A Cladding Industry First
We are the very first cladding company to be awarded LPS 1175 status, for specific versions of our Twin-Therm® built-up roof and wall cladding system. In turn, this has allowed us to be admitted into the official police security initiative: Secured By Design (SBD). The SBD scheme is managed by the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) and was set up to support all aspects of the construction industry to "Design out Crime" by helping to develop robust specifications in conjunction with member companies that can offer certified products. SCS working with Kier Construction on Woodside School in Sheffield
Specialist Cladding Systems are delighted to be working with main contractor Kier Construction Limited and architects, Race Cottam Associates, on the new build and refurbishment of Woodside School, situated on Pye Bank overlooking Sheffield City Centre. Working on behalf of Sheffield City Council, SCS will design, supply and install a range of products including Trespa and Eternit rainscreen cladding, PPC aluminium copings, soffit cladding and an Icopal single ply membrane roofing system. Our manufacturing facility at Evenwood is back to being fully operational after it's brief shutdown due to the weather. All departments are running as usual. Evenwood Site Closure
Due to the current extreme and deteriorating weather conditions and in consideration for the health and safety of all CA employees and site visitors we will be closing our Evenwood facility from 12 noon today, Thursday 1st March.
