Technical Engineer - CA Group Limited

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with customers, specifiers and main contractors at all levels
  • Become a key driver of product development of both existing and new products and systems
  • Utilising in-house technical systems and software whilst providing support to external customers, specifiers and in-house departments
  • Support and training will be given for development within the role for the Technical Engineer to provide a high level of support to the department and Technical Director
  • Produce design concepts, supporting sketches and fully detailed technical drawings for the R&D of existing systems and new innovations
  • Provide support to the external sales and development teams
  • Dealing with day-to-day technical enquiries and calculations providing prompt and accurate information to customers and clients
  • Conduct theoretical and installation training sessions at the company’s production facility and at construction sites
  • Produce new and update existing technical information papers, drawings, documents and articles

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within an engineering discipline (all engineering disciplines; BIM, architectural and mechanical will be considered)
  • Proficient presentation skills
  • Conversant with Autocad 2D/3D
  • Experience of the BIM environment would be preferred but not essential

Quantity Surveyor - CA Roofing Services

Reporting to the Surveying Manager the post holder will take responsibility for a wide range of commercial projects within our busy contracting division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing and agreeing valuations with clients and ensuring payments are received in accordance with subcontract agreements 
  • Preparing accurate take off of material quantities from drawings 
  • Follow procedures to ensure proper allocation of job cost 
  • Pricing of contract variations 
  • Preparing subcontractor payment certificates, calculation and allocation of subcontractor payments and updating spreadsheets accordingly 
  • Assist in the control of supply chain ensuring full visibility of liabilities 
  • Issue of subcontract enquiries, comparison of quotes, undertake negotiations and placing of comprehensive orders 
  • Contribute to the formulation of monthly financial reports 
  • Negotiation and agreement of final accounts with main contractor QS 
  • Cash flow forecasting across all contracts to project company turnover
  • Liaising with estimating, design, purchasing and contracts teams to ensure any changes and potential cost overspends are identified as soon as practicable, ensuring costs are recovered and future overspends avoided wherever possible

  • Supervision and training of assistant / trainee QS

  • Previous experience of working for a specialist sub-contractor essential 
  • Cladding knowledge preferred

Assistant Quantity Surveyor - CA Roofing Services

Reporting to the Surveying Manager the post holder will be responsible for assisting the Quantity Surveying team with a wide range of commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the preparation of valuations with clients 
  • Assisting with the preparation of accurate take offs from drawings
  • Assisting with the identification and pricing of contract variations

Purchasing Administrator - CA Roofing Services

Reporting to the Contracts Co-ordinator the post holder will be responsible for the placing of all material reservations with internal and external suppliers and advising all staff of critical dates required by supplier to ensure required delivery dates are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manually pricing of all internal orders
  • Placement & processing of all internal material orders using the internal SAP IT system
  • Placement & processing of all external material orders using the internal SAP IT system
  • Set up new projects and vendors using the internal SAP IT system
  • Checking of all order acknowledgements to ensure price, quantities and delivery dates are correct
  • Checking of all order acknowledgements to ensure orders are in line with CA Group standard terms and conditions
  • Liaise with all material suppliers and ensure information is issued from the drawing office on time, reporting any issues to the management team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce design concepts, supporting sketches and fully detailed technical drawings for the design of a range of established façade types

  • Ability to engineer solutions from first principles, demonstrating the ability to undertake fundamental calculations to support the design concept
  • Knowledge or understanding of key building performance characteristics such as thermal, acoustic & structural
  • Previous experience in delivering multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are maintained
  • Previous experience of managing NPI projects preferable but not essential
  • Ability to positively influence and communicate with all team members
